javan rhinoceros (Rhinoceros sondaicus)
Javan Rhinos are considered the most threatened out of the five species of Rhinos. With a population of about 40, the Javan Rhino is labeled as Critically Endangered by the IUNC. The only known population is found in Ujung Kulon National Park in Java, Indonesia. Deforestation caused the destruction of Habitats for the Javan Rhinos, which also allowed poachers to find the Rhinos more easily for their own personal gain, and thus resulted in extreme population decrease. Although there is no evidence of evolution due to this problem, it can be predicted that the Javan Rhinos may adapt to a life style of close quarter living, or they will attempt to migrate and spread to different areas to try to repopulate.
